Jaipur: Bhartiya Skill Development University (BSDU), Jaipur, has appointed Dr. Achintya Choudhury as its Vice Chancellor. Dr. (Brig.) Surjit Singh Pabla, Vice Chancellor before Dr. Choudhury, has been promoted to Pro Chancellor of BSDU. Dr. Achintya was appointed as Registrar at BSDU in December, 2018. Dr. (Brig.) Pabla joined BSDU when it was founded in 2016, sharing the beliefs of the university’s founder Late Dr. Rajendra Kumar Joshi, of the need of skilling youth.
Dr. (Brig.) Surjit Singh Pabla, Pro Chancellor, Bhartiya Skill Development University, said, “I’m happy that Dr. Achintya Choudhury has been made Vice Chancellor of Bhartiya Skill Development University, and I’m sure he’s going to fulfill his role to his best. I will continue to provide guidance and all my help to the university and the faculty here under my new role. Everyone’s aim here is to provide the students with the best education and experience to help them throughout their career. Under new guidance, the university is set to prosper and see good changes.”
Dr. Achintya Choudhury, Vice Chancellor, Bhartiya Skill Development University, said, “I am extremely delighted to have been given this new role. I’ll ensure that Dr. Rajendra Kumar Joshi and Dr. (Brig.) Pabla’s policies are maintained in the university, while also suggesting new techniques and ideas for the betterment of BSDU. Skill education is extremely important at this time of economic crises and to face the issue of unemployment among the youth of India. Through skill education, our students will not only get academic excellence, but also will be trained in industries to get practical experience, which will ensure that they get well-paying and secure jobs.”
Dr. Choudhury obtained his graduation in Mechanical Engineering from NIT Silchar and M.Tech and Ph.D. from IIT Kharagpur and IIT Delhi respectively. He has more than 35 years of experience in the field of academics, which started with his appointment at NIT Silchar. He also held several positions of academic leadership including the positions of Dean, Academics at Sikkim Manipal Institute of Technology (A constituent college of Sikkim Manipal University), Principal at Asansol Engineering College, West Bengal, Dean and Pro-Vice Chancellor at Sir Padampat Singhania University, Udaipur.
