Juventus has appointed former coach Massimiliano Allegri as their new manager for the 2021-222 season. He has returned for a second spell at Juventus and here’s How Juventus could line up next season under the Italian tactician.
For Juventus, winning the Serie A title for the 2021-2022 will be the main target. The Old Lady was focused on the glamorous Champions League and this was the sole reason for bringing in one of the best footballers in the world in the form of Cristiano Ronaldo. But the target of winning UCL has not achieved yet. Ronaldo is rumored to leave Juventus but no such confirmation has been there. He has still one year left in his contract. Therefore, we are assuming that he will be at Juventus for another year.
The following lineup consists of existing players in the Juventus squad, assuming that they will not leave the club.
Goalkeeper : Wojciech Szczesny
The Poland international goalkeeper enjoyed a good relationship with Allegri prior to the 53-year-old’s departure in the summer of 2019. The Polish goalkeeper has been at the club since 2017, cementing himself as a reliable number one. After failing to sign Gianluigi Donnarumma, Szczesny reamains the first choice GK.
Right Back : Danilo
As the season progresses, he continues to convince his doubters that he has something to offer. Danilo is one of the few players to have benefitted from the appointment of Pirlo. The Brazilian has been a steady rock in the back for the Bianconeri throughout this nervy campaign. On top of this, he also has good pace and is not afraid to make a forward run to open up the play or create space for the others.
Centre Back : Matthijs de Ligt
Juventus signed Matthijs de Ligt in the summer 2019 transfer window for 75 million euros, and the Dutch center back seems to be worth every penny. He is too valuable to Juventus and knows he is positioned to have a special career as a defensive leader for Italy’s most prestigious club.
Centre Back : Leonardo Bonucci
Giorgio Chiellini will be back at Juventus for one more season. The reason for the 36-year-old Italian defender re-upping for what will be looked at as one final ride at Juventus. But he will be not be first team players. Leonardo Bonucci is expected to start along with De Ligt in the Juventus Lineup.
Left Back : Alex Sandro
Alex Sandro remains the club’s first-choice left-back. The Brazilian has been outstanding at left-back so far this season and his high-tempo performances this season will likely have attracted plenty of interest.
Right Centre Midfielder : Weston McKennie
In just a few months, McKennie won everybody over, as the move proved to be a masterstroke by a front office that needed to get their moves right this summer. McKennie has been Juve’s most productive midfielder this season. His intelligence in the attacking end, composure in front of goal, and work rate defensively have made him a fan favorite and a key squad player for the Bianconeri.
Centre Midfielder : Arthur Melo
Pjanic was the favorite of Allegri. He was sent to Barcelona in exchange for Arthur. Arthur is one of the finest midfielders in the world but he has struggled with injuries for much of his time in Turin. Allegri might include him in his plans or could go for new signings.
Left Centre Midfielder : Rodrigo Bentancur
He has been a key member of the squad since he joined, but he has attracted the attention of some clubs around Europe recently. It didn’t matter if it was as a makeshift trequartista, as a deep-lying midfielder or as prototypical No. 6 that was out to be a bulldog all around the field, you name it and Bentancur was getting it done.
Left Winger : Federico Chiesa
Federico Chiesa was Juventus’ best performer during the 2020/21 campaign. He contributed nine goals and nine assists but perhaps more impressively, the 23-year-old stepped up to the plate with vital goals when his teammates and boss needed him most. He is likely to play a big role for the club for many years to come.
Striker : Cristiano Ronaldo
Ronaldo looks to extend his stay at Juventus by another year by signing until 2023. The 36-year-old has proven himself an invaluable asset to the Serie A giants – even if he has failed to help them win an elusive Champions League crown. Ronaldo is Juventus’ best paid player and his current deal expires in the summer of 2022.
Right Winger : Paulo Dybala
For a long time, there has been speculation on Paulo Dybala that he wants to leave. As of now, he is considered as a part of plan of the club. Allegri also wants Paulo Dybala to stay and urged Juventus’ directors to offer the Argentinean a contract extension. His contract expires in June 2022 and if the club don’t reach an agreement with the striker, he may have to leave in the summer. But for the next season he will be a crucial player in the attack for Juventus.
