Indian Kabaddi team captain Amarjeet honoured

Kaithal | Amarjeet Fouji, who led Indian kabaddi team to victory in International Championship held recently in Malaysia, was given a warm welcome on his arrival here on Tuesday. On getting information about his arrival, a large number of residents of Guhna, native village of Amarjeet, reached the local bus stand. Some garlanded the player, applied gulal on his face as a gesture of celebrations. A convey of motorcycles amid beating of drums led his welcome procession and Amarjeet stood in an open jeep to receive greetings waiving at gathering.

His procession passed through Pehowa Chowk, Chhatrawas road, Bhagat Singh Chowk and other areas reached village Guhna. In a programme held in Ruhal patti in the village on behalf of villagers, famous religious dera Mahant Touta Puri, Sewanand Brahmchari presented silver chariot and silver mace. Dillonwali villagers also honoured the player with presents.

According to information in final match in Maleka town of Malaysia three days ago, Indian team, led by Amarjeet, defeated Iraq team by 57-27 and won world cup and 19 raiding points were to the credit of Amarjeet. Due to his extraordinary performance in all matches he was chosen man of the series.

Team coach Virender, Kabaddi Federation Chairman Babu Parshad and Manager Parvinder Dhull highly appreciated Amarjeet for his sportsmanship.
