The latest season of IPL is just about to start. IPL 2023 auction were held in Bangalore and it concluded successfully. All the 10 teams have build up their final squads for the upcoming seasons. In this article we will talk about Delhi Capitals latest team updates.
DC performance in IPL 2023 Auction
Delhi Capitals retained four players ahead of the IPL 2022 Mega Auction. They retained Rishabh Pant, Prithvi Shaw, Axar Patel and Anrich Nortje. Delhi Capitals entered the IPL 2022 mega auction with an aim to put the foundation back together. However, after retaining all 4 players, DC were left with the smallest purse of Rs 47.5 crore.
They went after their old players at the mega auction – Dhawan, Ravichandran Ashwin, Kagiso Rabada and Avesh Khan but failed to get them due to budget constraints. Therefore, they just tried to build the squad with new players.

IPL 2023 : Delhi Capitals Squad Analysis
Batsmen :
David Warner and Prithvi Shaw will be the openers of DC. The opening combination of Warner and Shaw is quite destructive with left and right combination. The absence of Dhawan will be easily filled by Warner. Marsh will be there at N0 3 followed by Pant at 4. Batting will not be a concern for the Delhi franchise.
Wicketkeepers :
Skipper Rishabh Pant will keep the gloves for the team. He will be playing multiple roles for DC — captain, wicket-keeper, enforcer, finsiher, etc. DC has also bought a backup wicket-keeper in KS Bharat.
All-Rounders :
In this area, DC will definitely miss Marcus Stoinis. However, Mitchell Marsh is quite good at his position. The presence of Axar Patel will also give the required stability to the team. Shardul Thakur might prove to be the most valuable player for DC with his all-round skills.
Bowlers :
DC also have a lot of variety in the Indian pace department. However, no once can deny the fact that the duo of Rabada and Nortje is irreplaceable. They have been the biggest strength of DC’s over the last two seasons. Nortje will have to partner with either Ngidi or Mustafizur this time.
DC IPL 2023 Squad Preview
After retaining four players, DC tried to build a squad with its core players. They even went for Dhawan, Ashwin, Rabada but failed to get them. Shardul Thakur is the key takeaway for DC in IPL 2022. They also got Warner at quite a bargained price.
DC have a lot of options in bowling. Their batting is also stable. Overall their squad is a balanced one and have different options. DC’s squad has a lot of experienced players in each area.
