Why Shikhar Dhawan is not selected in Indian Squad for World Cup 2023?
Even after consistently performing for India in limited-overs format and his respective franchise in IPL, Dhawan has been ignored again by the selection committee for the World Cup 203. The simple reason behind his exclusion is that the selectors do not want to invest in him for the future plans. The management has decided to go with young players.
The approach of Dhawan is another reason behind his omission from the Indian team. He usually starts his innings in a slow manner. His strike rate is quite low when compared to the likes of KL Rahul, Ishan Kishan. There is also availability of a lot of players for the opening spot. KL Rahul, Rohit Sharma, Ishan Kishan and Virat Kohli are the names available for that spot.
Shikhar Dhawan has lost his place in Indian Team a long time ago. Dhawan is not included in the plans of selectors. This happened because of plenty of opening options available for team India. Why Shikhar Dhawan is not selected in Indian Team for T20 World Cup 2022?
Shikhar Dhawan (460 runs at 122.66) was among the top Indian run-getters in IPL 2022 but still he did not find a place in the T20 World Cup squad. It is quite clear that Dhawan is not in the plans of selectors anymore. He is not considered for selection in the T20 format. Dhawan has always scored runs for the Indian team in ICC tournaments whenever he got the chance. Still, due to the plenty of openers in Indian team, he fails to get a place in the team.
